Question: My son was has mono and keeps having fever that comes and goes. He has been like this for a week now. my daughter told me his eyes are moving back and forth very quickly when you ask a question .
He also is saying things that make no sense with the conversation he's having with you. Delusional.
What could be causing this?

Brief Answer:
Nervous system involvement to consider.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Mononucleosis infection rarely may affect the central nervous system too. So, since there are cognitive issues with your son, this possibility should be considered and investigated further.

It is necessary for your son to get evaluated by a Neurologist and by brain MRI to evaluate conditions such encephalomyelitis.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
