Brief Answer:
Did you develop an allergy to MAOI or have am unrelated allergy?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Unfortunately, your question is not clear enough and I will require some clarifications.

1. Did you develop and allergy to MAOI? If yes, stop the drug and continue with extra strength Benadryl. However, it is strongly advised not to take these medications together.

2. If you wish to find out what drug you can take for allergy while on MAOI, then Benadryl is not a good option.

3. All these products are unknown and may represent more of local herbs without international approval. I cannot comment on these but strongly advise against using herbal and locally made drugs whose safety is not certain.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

No, im not allergic to an MAOI, but I do have allergies and take OCT meds for them and have been prescribed an MAOI. What alternative meds, herbs, treatments, are available or do you recommend to treat the allergy symptoms of sneezing, runny nose, itching? Thanks

Brief Answer:
I recommend intranasal steroid solutions!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You are correct. MAOI and antihistamines are not a good combination. I will rather go with intranasal solutions as action is local and there are no systemic side effects. Intranasal steroids would be a great choice.I wish you well and let me know how this plays out.

Hope I have answered your query.
