Question : I have just been told I have ckd stage2. I am seeking ways of improving or at least inhibiting the progress of this condition. I am 80 years old and enjoy life and a single glass of wine and sometimes a single gin and tonic most nights with my dinner. Conflicting advice is published online. What is your view as to whether I should continue or not? Thank you for your help. John Dove

Hi and welcome.
Alcohol can be consumed moderately and it won't have bad effects on kidneys function in this case and this what you 've mentioned,is moderate consummation. It is more important to regulate your body weight, blood pressure and reduce salt intake in your diet.Wish you good health. Regards
