Question : I need to know what side effects will occur by taking CoQ10 for my high blood pressure while taking Simvastin. I am taking Losartan now for BP but have gained so much weight and my doctor has increased it to 100 mg. per day. I can't handle this. I was hoping CoQ10 would help and eliminate taking Losartan. My BP range is from 152/89 to 144/88. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Coenzyme Q 10 is mainly indicated for use in congestive heart failure and that too as an adjunct as its not a first line medication.

Its not used mainly as an antihypertensive. Its antihypertensive effect in some studies was observed well into 3 months of treatment. So its effect takes time.

Coeq10 is not an alternative for losartan as an antihypertensive.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
