Question : Hello. I have been TTC for 2 months now. I am 36 years old, with regular periods. This month my RE has recommended 5 mg of letrozole as it 2.5 mg of letrozole did not seem to work. This month around the 16th day, there was a 26 mm follicle in the RO. I was triggered with HUCOG 5000. After 36 hours, the scan now shows a 26.5 mm follicle and another follicle of 19 mm. Is this normal? Is it possible to ovulate later than 36 hours? Or is the HUCOG 5000 not working on me? My BBT showed a rise in temperature after the HUCOG 5000 shot.

                                    Brief Answer:
As explained below
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Usually, ovulation occurs within 36 hrs. Sometimes it can happen within 48hrs too. Sometimes 29 and 30 mm follicles can still have good eggs and ovulate. Follicles grow from 1 to 3 mm per day. We can wait or else if your treating doctor advises for another cycle you may be triggered with a higher HUCOG.
I hope this answered your query.
With regards,

Is there any ovulation kit to confirm ovulation?
Is the HUCOG 5000 injection foolproof? Does it work on every person?
The doctor has asked me to still go for a follicular study again tomorrow (CD 14th). In the previous question, I mistyped the day of the follicle 25 mm. It was CD 11. Could I ovulate later in this cycle itself? I mean in the next couple of days or should I assume that nothing will happen this month?
I do appreciate your help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Yes, there are ovulation kits available at a pharmacy. You can use them. I think you have chances in this cycle itself as it is CD 11. There are higher doses of HUCOG like 10k. It varies with different women different doses.
I hope this answered your query.

                                    Hello Dr. K,
Thank you for your help so far.
Please provide names of these ovulation kits.
Also, my doctor recommended taking a 2nd shot of HUCOG 5000 last night. However, the follicular scans after about 18 hours still show both follicles (26 mm and 17 mm). Can you shed some light on this result?
Thanks & Regards!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You need not take ovulation kits as the test of follicular size itself is an indication of ovulation. If you want to test then you can go for I-Know ovulation kits.
Your follicle size is good. It is best to follow what your treating doctor is advised. It is better you take another shot of the injection as the injection effect is only for 10 to 14 hrs and the peak concentration reaches by 6 hours after I.M
I hope this answered your query.
