Brief Answer:
Peanuts do cause belching and knot in stomach

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Regards and thanks for your query.
Read and understood your question.

Yes, Peanuts can cause severe belching and knot in stomach.

This occurs due to few reasons:
-Peanuts by its composition can produce gases in the stomach. The part that can be expelled comes out as a burp/ belch.

The part of air which travels down the lower stomach sphincter ( pylorus) to the small intestine acts as a bolus of air and causes pseudo-obstruction. This is felt as a knot in the stomach.

There are many theories of production of gas by peanuts.
One thinks that the oil it contains.
Some think of a aflatoxin being responsible for it.
Associated reasons that add on the process are:
Fast eating habits.
Loose dentures.
Aerophagia meaning swallowing air.
Gastroparesis due to diabetes , old age or some general disease.
Anxiety / stress being a major contributory factor.
GERD and so on.

I hope this answers your query well, please feel free to ask for more if you need to. You may please rate this answer if it helps you.
Thank You.
Best regards.
