Can Rectal Cancer Be Metastasized?
Question: My fiancée has recently been diagnosed with rectal cancer. We will know soon if it has spread. My question is this...does this type of cancer usually metastasize? Or just sometimes. His CBC numbers were good
Brief Answer:
Sometimes
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.
Rectal cancer may or may not metastasize and it depends on stage and size of cancer. Today,it is discovered in earlier phase than before so there are better chances of cure and around 70% of tumors can be surgically removed. Also,it is good to know, that even if there are no metastases in imaging tests, these can occur later after surgery so it is in most cases recommended to undergo chemotherapy after surgery to prevent it. Wish you goood health. Regards
