Question: Hello Doc,
For the past 1 year I have been experiencing hair thinning and hair loss. I use my headphone a lot while @ work and @ home. Can this cause the above problem.
I had been on Pan 20 and pan 40 tablets . Do these cause hair loss and hair thinning.

I fear that I may go bald. can you please suggest me some test or medications.

If diagnosis by a specialist is required can you suggest a good clinic @ XXXXXXX for my problem.

Please feel free to ask any other details required.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Management of male pattern baldness

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
Pantoprazole and use of head phones don't cause thinning and loss of hair.
If you are experiencing thinning and loss of hair in the crown region and frontal region of the scalp then you have developed male pattern baldness.
It is a hormone dependant hair loss occuring in genetically predisposed individuals.
It is diagnosed clinically and no laboratory tests are required in routine.
But if you still want to confirm it you can go for a scalp biopsy.
It is usually treated with minoxidil 5 percent lotion. The dose is 1ml twice daily along with tablet finasteride 1 mg once daily.
Along with these few new therapies available for male pattern baldness are platelet rich plasma therapy and Dermaroller sessions.
Multiple sessions are required and these are used as adjuvant to topical therapy.
For all this you need to consult a dermatologist and start the treatment under the doctor's supervision.
