Posted on Mon, 7 Sep 2015
Question: Can saline injections help break up cortisone in the cheek area? (buccal) I had shots done for scar tissue and now my skin has atrophied. I have been reading success stories online. Can you help me please? I'm very upset..... thank you.

Brief Answer:
Saline is of less help, usually this will go away by itself

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM

It is difficult comment on the atrophy of skin without examination.
I do understand that it is very frustrating, but there is very little scientific evidence that injecting saline will help.
I feel that the saline is of less help, and won't wash away the steroid that's long since left the scene.

But usually this will go away by itself in about 6 months or so, assuming it's entirely due to the injection. Fillers may be useful cosmetically.

Take care.
