Brief Answer:
there are meds that can help, normally combined with counselling

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Anxiety and panic episodes can have a significant aspect on a persons's life. There are medications that may be able to help you though they do not work instantly.

The same medications that are used to tread depression are also anti anxiety medication- there are indicated for both conditions or persons who only have one of these conditions
Medication such as zoloft, paxil, celexa, prozac - can be used for anxiety . They can take 1 to 3 weeks to kick in.

They can be combined with a benzodiazepine eg ativan for the first few weeks but they are more helpful that the benzodiazepines and they are not habit forming

In addition to the medication, counselling to help with relaxation techniques and how to deal with a stressful situation, may also help as well.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
