Question : I had hip replacement surgery 2 years ago. I got over the surgery per se very quickly. However, the surgeon told me that my leg was so numb because he had to stretch the femoral nerve more than usual. The numbness gradually improved to be replaced by severe pain in the affected area. The pain is somewhat better but still quite troublesome. Neurontin and Lyrica have not been effective. Never heard of this as a complication of surgery of this type. I was not told that I could have a permanent neuropathy. She would like to feel better. Suggestions?
Brief Answer:
Infection in implant suspected.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I think there may be an infection of the implant, may not be neuropathy since it it is not subsided by lyrica and neurotrine.
You have to do a total blood count to see if you have infection or not. If you have done tests, kindly upload reports for me to view.
Than prolonged antibiotics therapy may be needed. Or sometimes for deeper infection may be needed surgery and implant replacement.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I have been worked up extensively for infection. Including CBC C-reactive protein and sed rate. They are all fine. Neurologist confirms this is neuropathy.
Brief Answer:
How to better control pain due to peripheral neuropathy.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If your doctor is sure it is not infection and your neurologist ensures you that it is peripheral neuropathy it can be true.
It can be peripheral neuropathy due to trauma of the nerve at the operation site.
Lyrica and nrutotrinr are right treatment for it and your neurologist can increase dose of them since you are still in pain.
He also can add a painkiller such norco ( hyftocodone and acetaminophen) to control pain.
Take care.
Best regards.
