Question: can spironolactone cause low sperm count, I have recently been trying to father a child and couldn't get my partner pregnant, so I have had semen analysis done and I have a very low sperm count(6% motility).the doctor suggest, it might due to the spironolactone I am on.

If not only option left is to undergo ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) technique which introduces sperms into egg. Its an extension of IVF Procedure. Thank you for your reply, if the doctor said I should stop taking it.like how long after stopping it, will my sperm count increases.and is the damage done not permanent as I have been on the drug for nearly 3 years now.

Brief Answer: 3 months Detailed Answer: Hi You can get tested again after 3 months of stopping the drug. Also stop alcohol and smoking if you have habit. Follow balanced diet and exercise. Regards
