Thanks for your query about your 31 year old daughter.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Since CT scan is showing umbilical hernia with fat in it, the most probable cause of symptoms is obstructed hernia with fat.
Nausea is a symptoms that can come on on any condition that causes pain or feeling of not feeling well. May be has an associated gastritis or acidity related problems and may subside with a PPI like Omeprazole, Domperidone and antacids.
If the hernia content of fat is reduced to abdomen the symptoms may be abated.
Ct scan showing only hernia means rest of the abdominal contents are within normal limits.
One is said to have IBS if all the relevant investigations of blood, urine, stool, CT scan, Upper GI Endoscopy and colonoscopy are normal. This diagnosis is by positive clinical history, evaluation and negative investigations.
