Can The Hepatitis C Be Treansmitted Through Shared Paper For Cocaine?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Feb 2015
Question: Hello, is it possible to get Hepatitis C from sharig a piece of rolled white paper with someone to snort cocaine? The sharing occured only once (for ''one line'') and there was no noticeable blood on the paper. It was the very first time I tried cocaine (I do not intend to do it again), and to the best of my knowledge, my nose was not bleeding or irritated. Also, I only put the rolled piece of paper up to my nostril and did not insert it fully inside my nose.Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Very unlikley!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

For HepC transmission to occur, there must be contaminated blood and an entry point for it on your body. In the absence of blood, there is really no reason to be too scared. HepC is commonly transmitted in drug users through needle sharing. As you have promised, stay away from drugs as they only ruin your life. If you have not been vaccinated against HepB, please do so. Remember these infections can also be transmitted through sexual intercourse and therefore very important to always use condoms.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
