Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome to HCM..

I've gone through your query and understand your concern..

First of all i'd like to appreciate your concern not only for your son and your ailment but also for the preventive measures needed to be obtained for fighting a resistant bug like MRSA..

Most important part in combating bugs like MRSA is strict barrier nursing precaution(which the hospital authority must've implemented by now I believe), means only the single care giver/nursing staff is allowed for that one patient's care, touching IV lines, catheters etc. , feeding, suctioning with proper aseptic precautions..

There's no harm in visiting your son, you can certainly see him/interact with him from a distance but should always avoid physical contact for his safety most importantly(at least till the antibiotics course get over with)..

Since you've mentioned that you're having bronchitis, so better to wear Face masks(the usual triple barrier surgical mask available at every entrance/nursing counter of the ward/ICU of the hospital)..

Another very important thing is proper hand washing, always wash your hand thoroughly with antibacterial solution available at the entrance of the ICU/Ward/even bedside before and after touching anything adjacent to your son(even the doorknob, beds, papers etc.)..don't forget this as this is probably the most important step to prevent cross infection as well as resistance to an already "resistant bug", which most people always overlook..

No need to worry about the feeding tube as its generally the unsterile part but strict precaution should be taken by the nursing staffs so that it won't touch the sterile parts i.e. the tracheostomy tube, IV lines, catheters etc.(I certainly hope the hospital authority must be taking care of this as well)..

I hope I'm able to clarify your doubts in this shorter space, I'd be glad to clarify further if you have any more queries, just let me know..

Wishing your son a fast recovery..

Take care of yourself as well as your son..

Kind Regards
