Can Uterine Fibroids Cause .53 Endometrial Lining Thickness Post Menopause?
Question: Can uterine fibroids cause .53 endometrial lining thickness post menopause?
Brief Answer:
Not relate to fibroids.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The uterine fibroids are not associated with thickening of the endometrial lining. The fibroids usually regress in size after menopause. The increased endometrial lining thickness can be related to a hormonal disturbance. It is best to get an endometrial biopsy done in case this is persistent.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Hi Dr. Tayal,
Thank you for your response.
I am concerned.
I am 57 years old post-menopausal for about 4 years.
Having a whole menstrual period not just breakthrough of spotting.
Ultrasound shows .53 endometrial thickness
Will be going for hysteroscopy (they should be scheduling it today).
Been bleeding for 2.5 days (moderately heavy).
Uterine fibroids (several) on inside of uterus.
Hormone tests normal
CBC normal
Please give me some insight. Scared.

Brief Answer:
Hysteroscopy will help in diagnosis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing in again.
The thickened endometrium is not related to fibroids. This can just be endometrial hyperplasia. This will b confirmed after biopsy done during hysteroscopy.
Nothing to worry.
Go ahead with the procedure.
