Can You Give Me Any Information On Drug Interaction Or Diet That Affects Blood Pressure?

Question: I have hypertension and I have spells when it gets really high. Sunday it was 216/144 I am on 4 blood pressure medications plus I take hydralazine when it gets suddenly high. The hydralazine will bring it down but it doesn’t keep it down. I have been taking four a day with my other medicine. The doctor says that it is caused by Dysautonomia. I have had spells when it goes extremely low 70/40 and I fall. It’s so hard to treat because it’s erratic. Could a change in diet help? Do any of my medicines interact in a way that causes these extremes? I have a doctors appointment tomorrow to try to get it under control. I have had a headache for three days and have been nauseated. I don’t know if it’s from the high blood pressure or it it’s caused by the hydralazine. Can you give me any information on drug interaction or diet that affects blood pressure?

Hello There

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that considering your helth conditions and fluctuations in your blood pressure you should get a ambulatory blood pressure monitoring done to trace out at what times your blood pressure stays high so that anti-hypertensive medications can be adjusted accordingly.

You should also get done a Holter ( ambulatory ECG ) for minimum 48 hours to see if you any arrhythmia which can be a reason of your fall.

You also need to get some basic blood investigation to be done, so I’ll recommend you to personally consult your treating cardiologist for further care.

Hopefully this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards
