I am concerned with cancer, I am very worried. What does hypodense and low density mean?
Brief Answer:
Please find report details explained.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.
A hypodense and low density area means that there is lower density in a particular part than the surrounding area and it can mean a fluid or fat containing area. Your report mentions hypodensity and lower density in few statements.
Your reports are showing the following.
1.There low density areas in both the kidneys and the report suspects proteinaceous cysts. Protein containing cysts are not cancers. However a differential diagnosis of cancer lesions is mentioned in the report. This does not confirm cancer. A MRI scan can confirm cysts or if there are alarming features of cancer. If the cysts are the same from 2018 then cancer is less likely.
2.There are few small kidney stones and not causing any obstruction and is not a serious concern.
3. There is likely mild swelling of the large bowel in the right side of abdomen and can suggest any mild inflammation. Please discuss with your doctors if you need a colonoscopy.
4.There is a low density area in the endometrial cavity of uterus and the report gives few possible conditions. CT scan is not the best test to see the uterus and endometrial cavity. You might like to get an ultrasound scan done and endometrial biopsy if clinically indicated.
