Brief Answer:
Hello,

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Ukamesh. Welcome to Ask a doctor services. I have read your question.

You have a past history of suffering from Varicose ulcers (since 7 years) on both legs below the knee. You have developed itching & hence feel discomfort.

The itching may be due to a condition called venous stasis dermatitis, when the blood builds up in the damaged vessels, it can leak into the skin & causes slight inflammation and hence itching.

When the varicose veins do not function properly the body tries harder to repair them, thus producing more hormones like histamine, hence itching may get triggered as an allergic response to histamine.

Itching is felt when the body is trying to heal the varicose veins.

To stay comfortable you can take non sedating antihistamines, which block the chemical histamine that makes your skin itch. Before taking it consult with your local treating doctor.

You can also apply a thin layer of corticosteroid cream or ointment to reduce itching.

However, you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP physically to detect if the sores over your varicose veins have got infected. In that case you may need a course of antibiotics & further treatment.

Since you are in Govt job, if possible take rest for a few days, consult a local doctor at your place. Reduce weight, get connected to a Physical therapist.

I can understand you are working very hard but you should give yourself a little rest when the body requires. Do not stand at the same place for a long time, keep moving.

Always keep your legs elevated on a stool when you are sitting & on a pillow when on bed for relieve.

Hope I have answered your question. Take care.

Brief Answer:
Welcome, again.

Detailed Answer:
I have already suggested corticosteroid (Hydrocortisone ointment/cream) cream to be applied locally on the area affected. It will help to reduce itching. Do not scratch, do not touch. Take care of your hygiene.

To lighten the scars you can apply Hirudoid cream/ointment on the scars. It effectively softens hard scars & removes it.

Apply ointments only externally, 1-2 times a day on the area of the skin affected & massage until completely absorbed. Avoid contact with open wounds and mucous membranes of the mouth or eyes.

Hope I have answered your question. Take care.

Brief Answer:
Welcome back.

Detailed Answer:
The ointments will definitely give you relieve. However, it depends upon the recurrence. You have been suggested to get your varicose veins/ ulcers clinically examined & get treated at the earliest.

Neglect may cause not only recurrence but also worsening of the symptoms.

If you suspect allergy you should get clinically examined by an allergist. You may need conservative treatment or shots depending on the severity of the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your question. Take care.
