Brief Answer:
Can give Meftal-P
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear
Thanks for posting to us
I understand your concern
If no other symptoms associated, this is probably a viral illness.
We can expect high grade fever for next 48-72 hours. Until then, you can give Tylenol every 6 hours. You can give 2.5ml of Syrup Meftal-P(100mg/5ml) if fever is not subsiding in 1 hour of Tylenol, or if it returns before 6 hours.
If fever persists beyond 72 hours, or if additional symptoms appears, we can evaluate further
i hope this answer will help
take care.

You can give 2.5ml of MeftalP syrup for 6.75kg
If no additional symptoms, we can wait for up to 4-5 days, provided baby is active and feeding well. Blood or urine tests are done if fever persists beyond this period or if baby is very tired looking/not taking feeds.

My baby passed stool for 6 times today and bloody mucus..iam terrified and panic..went to emergency..they took blood test and told to come tomm..is it due to large no of meds or meftal p? Her fever also not reducing..
Brief Answer:
suggests acute gastro-enteritis
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
No need to worry- this indicates acute gastro-enteritis or food poisoning. Not from medicines.
We need not worry and no need to panic- this is a very common disease and will respond to antibiotics.
Also, I would like to do blood routine and urine routine(CBC, CRP, URE) at this stage. I am not aware of the tests you have already done today.
For such cases, I usually give cefixime(antibiotic), along with zinc and probiotic. Since you had a hospital visit today, you might have already given these. If not, I can guide you- get back to me if needed.
Meanwhile, give her ORS solution - 70-8-ml after each stools. Give in small sips to avoid vomiting. This will prevent dehydration

Hi dear doctor
Hope you are doing well.my baby reports came which we took in emergency.i had attached the reports and bloody stool photos...it came as salmonella typhi..now her fever subsided and blood in stool reduced but she is passing stool nearly 10 times. I started with taxim o .on monday.and enterigermina as you told today..in emergency they told to give another 5 days of taxim o..
I have following questions
Is this typhoid fever
Why bloody diahreaa? Any problem with intestines due to typhoid or common ?
When approximately motion will stop and become normal
Can I give her formula milk which I started in 3rd month..
What diet should be given? Iam giving rice porridge, arrow root porridge apple ragi and milk..
She not drinking electrol or have little water ..so urine output is low only..is it ok?
Thank you
Vidhya.

Brief Answer:
Not Typhoid fever
Detailed Answer:
Hello Vidhya,
Welcome back
Thank you for sharing reports and image- I have gone through the entire reports. Since fever has come down, she is improving and we need not worry.
I will address your concerns one by one:
1. It is not Typhoid fever. The culture isolated Salmonella enteritidis- it causes non-typhoidal salmonallosis, and not Typhoid. This is a less severe infection compared to typhoid
2. Bloody diarrhea is quite common in bowel infection- occur due to infection and sloughing of bowel mucosa during infection. It will settle as the infection gets controlled and mucosa heals. No worries.
3. Motion may take 7-10 days to get normalised. Nothing to worry if no fever and she is playful
4. Formula milk can be continued. Ensure to use clean, boiled water.
5. Usual diet okay, but avoid fruits/juices for 10 days
6. If taking enough milk, fluid may not be a problem
I hope you are relieved now
Take care
