Question : I have Chiari 1, I'm looking for a headache med that works and doesn't keep me awake at night.

                                    Hi,
Thanks for the query,
I understand your concern
Let me tell you that the causes of headache are many and it may be due to migraine, tension headache, increasing pressure in the brain and so on. As you have chiari 1, I feel that you need a detailed evaluation which includes a clinical evaluation followed by a scan to exclude increased brain pressure.
In the ,mean time you may try medications like naproxen, paracetamol, amitriptiline etc.
Please let me know if you need further information

I have had 13 MRI's and MRA's. They did a Blood Patch last wed 5/8/2013 to allow spinal fluid to flow to my brain and hopefully lift up my brain. With NO luck and leaving me with much shooting pain and more headaches. I'm on a waiting list for surgery. As you know, they recommend surgery at 4mm, I was at 7mm last Sept and now at 8.5mm as off May 1st.
I have tried numerous med's; Zolpidem, Propranolo, Topiramate, Amitriptylin, Naproxen, Baclofen, Gabapentin, Vicodin, and Nortriptyline giving me worse pain and discomfort. These give me little relief; Ondansetron, Cycolbenzaprine 10mg, Percocet, Zolpidem 5mg, Diazepam 5mg and Zomig 5mg. I have not yet the Paracetamol. They give me Dilaudid 2mg was working for a bit and now is keeping me up at night.
My main concern is... only receiving an hour - 2 hrs sleep in a session, Pain of nerves and headache caused by neck and shoulders and shooting to the front of my head
What else do you suggest

                                    Hello,
You better get surgery done as advised. I hope that problem will resolve after the procedure. You may try a course of pregabaline which helps in these cases
Please get back if you need any additional information
Best wishes
