Question: My 11 year old daughter has been complaining of nipple tenderness for about a week. She does not exhibit any signs of hormonal changes yet. Her nipples seem a bit swollen and a little red. Not really alarming symptoms but she they are not clearing up and it is bothering her.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Do not worry.

Breast normally develop around this age group. When they begin to develop they feel sore. So this is a normal developmental process. Analgesics like Paracetamol are rarely required for this.

If there is associated fever with worsening pain and increasing redness and swelling then you may have to contact your doctor.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
