Child Has Fever And Stomach Pain. CT Scan Showed Mass On Adrenal Gland. Any Ideas?

Question : My son is 10 been sick for 4 days ct done showed swollen stomach with little fluid, slight fever, his wbc was 11.5 rbc 4.56 platelets 256 mo high ly low ne high, on ct showed a 2.2 cm mass on left adrenal gland and ultra sound showed the same but showed solid black on ultra sound, severe stomach pain in his belly area mainly around his navel. What could the mass be?

thanks for the inquiry and using health care magic. An adrenal mass could be an indication of an adrenal cyst, or tumour. The commonest adrenal tumour is what is called a phaechromocytoma. This tumour is usually accompanied by changes in blood pressure, sweats, abdominal pain, palpitations and at times fever.
It shall be ideal to exclude this commonest tumour. Blood results however are within normal limits.
Tests like urinary Vanyl Mandelic acid, serum electrolytes and a control abdominal CT scan could be most helpful. Consulting with a an endocrinologist/internist could be of utmost good. Excluding this could be very important. Do not hesitate asking further questions if need be.

He had a ct done less than 3 months ago and another one yesterday nothing showed on the first one but on the second one it showed this on the left kidney, now my question is at his age how common is this, what is usually done about this. And also he was born premature.

this is not a common condition, but not all of the cysts are a problem. Not all of these cysts are pathological. The essence of running tests is to ensure they are not pathological and ensure the integrity of the adrenals.
Being premature actually has nothing doing with this condition. There is no established relationship.
