Question : 4 year old boy with 102 fever, sore throat and cough for 5 days. Rappid strep negative

In this disease supportive treatment is advocated such as-
Monitor for dehydration- offering warm liquids to child.
Oral rinses if child is able to it.
Lozenges and multivitamins.
Nebulisation and steam inhalation.
Anti-allergic syrup like cetirizine syr can be given to take care of excessive secretions once a day for 2 - 3 days.

No need to so much worry because strep test is negative. If your son's condition does not improve in 5 days then again consult the doctor.
