My son had a circumcision at birth and is now 6 weeks old. His median raphe is significantly deviated to the left. Is this a complication of circumcision or something he was born with and is it significant? Also, can the penoscrotal junction be asymmetrically elevated and not related to circumcision? Thanks.

There can be such a deviation of the raphe post procedure if the surgeon has not stitched finer and stitches were not aligned. If you think that the deviation was not present prior to the procedure, we can relate this deviation to the procedure. Do not worry such deviations can be revised and corrected.

If you aren’t sure of the way the raphae appeared prior to the procedure, and suspicious about the previous surgery, I suggest an examination by a different Urologist / Pediatric Surgeon to know the actuals.

Asymmetrical penoscrotal junction may or may not be related to the procedure too. A second opinion from a different urologist / pediatric surgeon will also help in identifying the cause here.
