                                            Question : Dear Doctor,
Attached is the annual report ages 75
My query is specific to elevated TSH level and have been suggested thyroxine with 02.5mg which i would want to avoid as i have heard that once you take these med, u need to rely on these medication throughout your life. Also, could i rather take Zinc and Magneisum glycate supplement to help brining down the TSH level?
Also, for calcium support as i feel slight pain at times in knees, what should be the quantity of calcium taken.

                                    Brief Answer:
Hashimoto thyroiditis
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have gone through your query and your attached reports.
The most common cause of high TSH level is an autoimune condition called Hashimoto thyroiditis.
Probable this is the cause of your thyroid hormone panel results.
To confirm the diagnosis it is necessary to do an TPO test.
Zink and Magnesium can be helpful for normal hormone function but this supplements will not bring down the TSH level.
I suggest to start 200mg/day Selenium , Iodine 200mg/day and Vit B complex 1 tb /day.This can be helpfful for your thyroid condition.
Let me know the result of TPO test and i can guide you further.
Wish you all the best.
