Yes, Losartan has been reported to causes lupus though very rarely
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
In fact many drugs can causes lupus, the list is extensive one with more then 40 drugs possibly causing lupus. Losartan is very uncommonly seen to cause lupus but it can cause lupus and has been reported in studies. Losartan reported to causes lupus was found to be seen in the first month of its use in 90 percent people and was not found after its 2 years of use.
The reported cases were female 90 percent and most aged over 30 years. So yes here we can say that though very rare, but it has been reported to causes lupus. (this side effect is so uncommon that not mentioned in British formulary) but skin rashes, urticaria and photosensitivity is not very uncommon with losartan.
Most of cases of lupus are caused by procainamide, isoniazid, carbamazipine, hydralazine and minocycline.
Hopes this is clear, still if you had to ask any thing else or of in would be very happy to answer that. Please don't hesitate to ask.
Kind Regards
