Brief Answer:
PMR treatment protocol.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

*We treat Polymyalgia rheumatica with a low dose of prednisone. You'll likely start to feel relief from pain and stiffness within the first two or three days.

*After the two to four weeks of treatment, your doctor might begin to gradually decrease your dosage depending on your symptoms and the results of blood tests. The goal is to keep our patients on as low a dose as possible without triggering a relapse in symptoms.

We make follow-up visits with patients to monitor how the treatment is working and whether they have side effects.

If you start at higher doses or taper off the medication too quickly are more likely to have a relapse. More than half of the people with polymyalgia rheumatica have at least one relapse when tapering off the corticosteroids. Relapses are treated by increasing your drug dosage for a while then tapering again.
*Also I recommend our daily doses of calcium and vitamin D supplements to help prevent bone loss induced by corticosteroid treatment.
*Also methotrexate, an immune-suppressing medication that is taken by mouth may be useful early in the course of treatment or later, if you relapse or don't respond to corticosteroids.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
Thanks for your reply, but

1) "who should I look for, for a second Doctor opinion ?"
Has not been answered, as to what type of doctor to get second opinion.

2) And, could I have Lyme disease that caused this ?

3) Is Dr. Kalpana, a good type of environmental doctor,
who is listed by the international Lyme Disease organization,

Thanks
