If there is any focus of infection in the drainage area of a particular lymph node, the lymph node enlarges in response to the infection.
Since you have infected lesion in the drainage area of the said lymph node, it may enlarge.
The commonest cause if an enlarged lymph node.
Get a course of an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medications if needed. Needs a prescription.

                                    So this is all infection? my left ear/neck/sholder feels heavy.. so this all heals when the boil drains and heals?

You may go for ultrasonography of the neck to see whether lymph nodes are enlarged or it is an extension of the infection.
