Could Chronic Throat Mucus Be Due To Exposure To Radon Gas?

default
Posted on Wed, 14 Jun 2023
Question: I have had non-stop mucous for a little over two months. I have been treated with a z-pack, Augmentin and
am currently taking MethylPredNisolone. It just occured to me that I have a radon reading of 11 in my
house. Could there be any correlation? I just had a chest x-ray and it came back clean.

Brief Answer:
No, this is not due to radon exposure as your chest x-ray is normal.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

As of now, I don't think your symptoms are due to radon exposure as your chest x-ray is normal.

But better to get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out bronchitis.

If PFT is showing obstructive defect then your all symptoms are due to bronchitis.

And radon gas exposure can cause bronchitis.

So please let me know
1. Do you smoke?
2. Have you ever undergone PFT?

Hope I have answered your query.

Please reply to me answers of above-asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further.

I stopped smoking 30 years ago. However
I had acute bacterial pneumonia 2.5
years ago.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry for pneumonia as your chest x-ray is normal.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

No need to worry for pneumonia as your chest x-ray is normal.

In my opinion, you should definitely consult pulmonologist and get done a clinical examination of the respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).

You may need inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone).

Hope I have answered your query.
