Could Drinking Water Before Checking Creatinine And EGfr Levels Lead To Abnormal Results?

Posted on Thu, 22 Apr 2021
Question:
Hello. I just had a kidney function test done. My creatnine was .95 and my eGfr was 94. I did have three bottled waters right before the test. Did I dilute the results by drinking water, in other words is there a chance that my creatnine is really higher and my eGFR lower?

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. It doesnot affect egfr

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. Unless you were dehydrated prior to test, drinking water wont affect your creatinine and egfr.
Egfr remains withing a constant narrow range if kidney function is ok and one is not dehydrated.
Thanks and regards
