Question : Hi I’m a 41 year old female and about seven years ago I had a very bad lupus flare it cause severe pain in my arms especially wrist and palms, my legs and especially my feet ( heels) So bad I could barely walk. It was also affecting my heart I was in a-fib for quit some time. Now that I’m no longer in a lupus flare they tell me I have fibromyalgia and I still have severe pain in my arms and legs! When it gets really bad I become short of breath when I try to walk and have to hold onto the walls to hold me up. My doctor says there is nothing he can do for me and there is no cure for fibromyalgia! I am wondering if in fact I have fibromyalgia or could it be something different that does have a cure or maybe something for more relief? He put me on lyrica and it worked wonderfully for about two months and it just stopped working. He currently has me on famciclovir, Cymbalta 60 mg and norco 5/325.the norco seems to help but not enough it just sorta takes the edge off. Is there anything else in your opinion that my current doctors could be missing? I also get muscle cramps and or spasms in both of my calf’s.
Brief Answer:
Seems like fibromyalgia
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Seems like fibromyalgia. The pain is at different sites and not related to lupus. Cymbalta is a brand name of duloxetine and it is very very effective for fibromyalgia. Norco is a good alternative and it gives good pain relief.
If pain still persist, you can try other analgesics like Gabapentin and tramadol. Alternative medicine like acupuncture also shows some results. Avoid unwanted stress and anxiety. Try relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation. If pain still persist despite all these consult a pain specialist.
Regards
