Question : I have noticed a swollen area on the front right side of my throat. Should I see a doctor or could this be a pulled muscle?
Brief Answer:
Please provide some more information
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Can you please provide some more information about your problem?
Since when have you noticed this swelling?
Do you have pain? Is the pain in touch, when you swallow or move your neck?
Fever? Any other symptoms?
Have you tried any painkiller and do they help?
The more information you give me more I will be able to help with proper advice.
It will help if you can upload a photo.
Looking forward to your follow up question.

I noticed the swelling / bump on Friday night.. that side of my neck has mild pain that is migrating to the back of my head.. I had test results done w couple months ago because my thyroid level was high but when they tested it a week later they said it was normal. I’m just not sure if I should be concerned and get an appointment with my physician. It doesn’t hurt to swollen but it feels like it’s harder to swallow. I have not noticed any other symptoms. I have attached a photo for reference although it’s very hard to see in a photo.
Brief Answer:
Can be a swollen lymphnode.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Your photo did not come through. And from your description it is difficult to understand where is the swelling localized because you say throat but it looks like you mean in the neck.
If it on the sides of the neck, it can be a lymphatic node. There are a lot in that area. They can be swollen from different possible infections including the skin near the node, ears, nose, throat, etc. Thyroid gland does not cause a pain when you swallow but causes difficulty swallowing if it is very swollen.
I would say wait up to 3-5 days if you get other symptoms, like fever, sore throat, or other nodes swollen. If not better then consider seeing a local doctor to check your thyroid. If it has been high levels before, it can have again. And if those levels are persistent, then you need to take a treatment.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
