Question: Hi the patient has been having radiation and chemotherapy for cancer in the large intestine. As a result a rash has occured since last week in the buttocks and leg area. Could you advise what can be done to get some relief. He has been trying cyst bath with baking soda but is not getting much help. Thanks

Hello,
Radiation therapy and chemotherapy both can give a skin reaction like a sunburn on skin.
Wearing wide, cotton comfortable clothes is advisable.
Also he can use petroleum based cream such aquaphor to moisturize the skin.
Also using hydrocortisone cream,a thin film on skin can be helpful to reduce this reaction.
Also he has to wash it well with gentle unscented soap and dry it well to prevent infection.
