Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

I suggest you to use a 2% ketoconazole based shampoo e.g either Nizoral or Scalpe shampoo. Use it daily or on every alternate days...lather it well on to wet scalp and allow it to act for 5-7 minutes before rinsing it off. Besides I also suggest you to take an oral antibiotic e.g either Doxycycline 100mg, twice daily or Minocycline 100mg once daily for 2-3 weeks. Oral antibiotics are prescription medicines.

Hi.
Yes, you can do that, however, if you still keep developing acne/ pimples on your scalp, then you may consider taking Doxycycline orally. Avoid hair oil. You may use a conditioner though.

Thanks a lot doctor,can I just use scalpe shampoo without the oral antibiotics or do I need to take tablets as well?

Thanks doctor,can you recommend the good conditioner and shampoo available in the market for general use(not specific to dandruff). Also can you let me know how many tablets need to be taken and the frequency. Thanks in advance.

Hi.
Triclenz shampoo and Triflow conditioner are for general use. As far as Doxycycline and Minocyclime is concerned, they can be taken either once or twice daily for acne for the duration prescribed. They are available only on prescription.
