Question : Dear Doctor, I was blessed with a baby girl. we are in the hospital now. I am with my wife taking care of the baby. daily in night most of the time I am carrying the baby and walking around the ward as the baby sleeps only if I carry her in hand. because of this both my foot are slightly swollen and also I have constant pain in both my foot. for the past two days I taking rest as much as possible but still the pain in the foot has not reduced and also the pain have increased a bit. please advice me as what can I do about this. And what medicine can I take. i was taking only paracetamol 650 mg once daily but the pain has not reduced so far. Thanks.

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

The cause of local pain and swelling seems to be due to muscle strain,overstretch and resultant inflammation.

I would advise you to take rest as much as possible.
While sleeping or seating,keep your legs elevated.
Take NSAIDs like acetaminophen or ibuprofen instead of Paracetamol.
Take a warm bath or Keep your legs dipped in a tub containing lukewarm water for about 20 minutes.
Massage your feet to counter venous insufficiency.
Do gentle stretching and try pointing and straightening your toes while sitting or standing.

If the feet pain persists beyond a few days,please consult your clinician.
