Question: Dear Doctor, I'm a 59-year old male, non-smoker; I only occasionally drink alcohol. I'm having trouble getting access to a medical practitioner as everyone in my region is extremely busy at the moment. I would like to ask you for help. I've had a strange rash on both of my shins / calves for the last 3 weeks. I started as a small spot but it has been spreading progressively. I've tried home remedies including over-the-counter balms but nothing seems to work. Now my ankles are starting to get swollen as well. I also feel that the skin on my arms is starting to itch. I had something similar but to a much lesser degree in the last few years (bilateral, localised to legs and with no swelling) . It was much smaller and it always resolved on its own after a few weeks. It always comes in the summer. I also have hair loss on my lower legs. Last year I had a full dermatological investigation but they failed to find anything skin-related. I'm not sure which specialist I should go to now. The rash itches; I don't think the temperature of the skin is higher. I don't feel pain, but I feel tension in the itch and in the swelling. Thank you for your help. All the best, Michal Jilek
