Question: Dear Doctor ,
I am herewith attaching the reports of 2 D echo and ECG pertaining to my wife Smt. P Ratnalatha 74 years of age.The tests were done on 13th sept 2023 as routine prior to undergo total replacement of ht eknee which was done on 21 st sept and doing well. The Cardiologist who performed @ D echo has said that she has rehumatoid heart disease and she has mitral valve regurgitation And enquired about symptoms if any.We told him that she has no seymptoms enumerated in connection with mitral valve regurgitation. Absolutely no symptoms. My wife refused to take a second opinion in this regard, and as she has no symptoms ata all through out her liefe, she doesnt want to take a 2nd opinion. If at all if she has nay symptoms in future , then she is willing to see a doctor. AS there no symptoms at all, can we take a wait and see approach? what is your expert advise. Please feel free to tell us clearly

sincerely

Brief Answer:
Reports reviewed

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the reports

Yes, the reports suggest Rheumatic Heart Disease, its fortunate that though these is severe value impairment, your wife has no specific symptoms.

It is strongly advised for her to get a opinion from the cardiologist at the earliest.

These conditions if become symptomatic and reach to intolerable severity, surgery is the only option that remains.

Hope, I answered your query
