Question : Dear Dr., my position is having me switch from pristiq 25 mg to 10 mg of fluoxetine. I cannot reach her but I wanted to know how to make the transition without too many effects. I am very sensitive so I know I don’t just go from one to the other. Should I have half pristiq and the Prozac together? Please advise. The Prozac is in capsules so I cannot cut it in half.
Brief Answer:
You can cut Pristiq dose in half.
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for using ask a doctor service
The dose of Prozac 10 mg is very low and there is no need to take the dose less than that. Normally we start with 20 mg dose of Prozac for adults.
The dose of Pristiq too is low. 25 mg is lowest dose for an adult. Even if you take both drugs together even then there is no need to get worried. This will not cause serious side effects. No need to get worried. Or if you are very sensitive to dose changes of drugs then you can cut Pristiq dose in half and can take it with 10 mg of Prozac.
Thanks
