Prognosis of hyperthyroidism is good with treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX
I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

With treatment, the prognosis of hyperthyroidism is good.
Treatment is done by means of Anti thyroid medications(like methimazole),Radioactive iodine and sometimes by surgery.

If left untreated, hyperthyroidism can cause many complications some of which are serious.
Major complications involve the heart, bones, skin, eyes and fertility.

The cardiac complications include a rapid heart rate, irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation),thrombus formation, risk of stroke and heart failure.
It causes de- mineralisation of bones, weak and brittle bones and pathological fracture.
Eye problems, including dry, red, swollen eyes, photo sensitivity, blurred vision and sometimes vision loss.
Most dreaded complication is Thyrotoxic crisis.
This is a medical emergency requiring immediate medical care.
In thyrotoxic crisis, there is sudden exacerbation of hyperthyroidism symptoms, leading to a high grade fever, shortness of breath, palpitation, rapid pulse delirium and at times death.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.
