Hi

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Depression is a possibility in patients presenting with such symptoms.

Some times patients with depression may not present with the classical features of depression. They have features such as negative views and attitude about others. They may also present with irritability. Some of the symptoms you explained (like low self esteem, low energy, lack of interest in house hold work etc) are suggestive of depression. Patients with depression are not happy about any thing in life. They have a feeling that they can not do any thing right. They cannot laugh whole heatedly.

Depression occurs because of imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain.

Thyroid function test should be done in your wife after proper examination. Antidepressants are normally prescribed in cases of depression by the psychiatrist.

Life style changes add to antidepressants and help in the treatment of depression.
They include regular exercise, increased motivation, yoga, breathing exercise, etc.

Depression is the leading cause of suicide. So no delay must be done in getting psychiatric help.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Go for clinical therapy. Yoga and other life style changes like regular exercise, increased motivation, breathing exercise, etc are complementary in nature.

Hope this helps.
Take care
