He missed 1 on his SAT and none on his prelaw exam. Honors through law school. Very socially awkward and sometimes inappropriate. He ca n not function as a lawyer it seems. Been removed from cases from judges for not getting to the point. Never had a full time job. Works now as a bouncer. We are divorced and he just gave up his rights to his child. He was diagnosed with asbergers autism as a child but no one took it seriously What is going on. He appears depressed in posture. playes computer games excessively and is scared to answer his phone. Also scared of getting a case or cliet
I should also add that we were in court regarding changing our daughter school, when he lost he told the judge that he wanted to give up rights to his doctor I didn't want or request this
rights to his daughter. He also just left one day and our marriage was over, he did not need to stay and home and take care of our child anymore and I mentioned it was time to go back to work. He bolts from some situations in his life None of this makes since to me He is now also heavy into S and M

Brief Answer:
Appears to be Aspergers..

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Thanks for tall the details that you have posted about your husband. These details were all inclusive and could give a clear picture of what your husband is facing with. It appears that your husband is having Aspergers (Autism spectrum disorder) along with mild-moderate mental retardation. Normally people with aspergers have good intelligence. Even though there are social oddities, their intelligence is preserved. However around 60-70% of autism patients have co-morbid mental retardation. I completely agree with you that dealing with such patients can be too much of stress and leaving them seems to feel like guilty.
Unfortunately, there are no clear medical treatments for autism and mental retardation. The only possibility is social skills training by a trained psychologist. But this requires lots of efforts, patience, time and money.
The other possibility is that he could be having an add on depressive disorder or an attention deficit disorder which can be treated with medicine such a bupropion. I generally advice my patients to take 150 mg /day but XXXXXXX being a internet medical advice portal I may not help you with a prescription.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.

This can be passed down to my daughter can't it. I have her in therapy and she is no longer with him but a few hours a week. Symptoms that appeared a few months ago have disappeared, I think she was depressed. I thought she would be devastated seeing him so rarely but there are no signs of that. She's very happy now and making lots of friends. How do I help her deal with this. Her therapist knows nothing about it and my psychologist and psychiatrist I see for PTSD say little is known about it. By the way we have been divorced 10 years. Do I approach my x husband with this. What kind of psychiatrist with what specialty should he see. What is his future without help?

Brief Answer:
Yes, it can pass down to your daughter.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Yes, asperger disorder is a genetic disorder and can pass down to your daughter from her fathers genes that she might have inherited at the time of conception. Exposure to her father now, will not cause/effect the illness as it is not infectious. So you can surely let her XXXXXXX your husband and that wont cause any harm. Your therapist is right in stating that nothing much is known about this illness and its only the behavioural therapy with social skill training that can help in improving the status of your daughter. Most of the asperger disorders are very mild and its even difficult to diagnose and go un-diagnosed.
The child psychologist is the best person to take care of these issues. The future with help is not very bad and one can be patient.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
