There is no reason to be so worried. This is usually caused by B19 parvovirus and sometimes is found in adults. Symtpoms are flu-like and sometimes man can develop arthritis, rash and hepatomegalia.Blood findings show elevated inflammatory markers and WBC. Also liver enzymes may be elevated in some cases and severe anaemia may develop. Anaemia should be treated in hospital.
In uncomplicated cases, home treatment (including rest, fluids, and pain relievers and fever reducing) is usually the only care needed for it. If complications develop, close monitoring by a health professional or hospitalization may be required, but coplications develop only in impaired immune system so if he is healthy in general there shouldnt be any problems.
His blood results and condition should improve in 7-10 days. If nit, then some other diseases should be considered.
WIsh you good health. If you have any question I ll be glad to help.
