Brief Answer:
No need to worry. Kindly read answers to your questions below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello there,
Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor service'.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

1) Yes, you are clean and free from HIV.
2) Your HIV testing is conclusive in rule out HIV.

CMIA test rules out HIV conclusively after six weeks.
WHO recommend repeat test after three months of exposure. You have investigated after 15 weeks.
So your test can be considered as conclusive to rule out HIV.

3) You can resume your normal life and activities.
Don't worry.

Hope I have answered your all questions.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.

Hi Sir,
If you can answer following questions as well

1) Is CMIA the fourth generation ELisa test? And am I out of the window period for this test to give accurate result?
2)What does conclusive in ruling out HIV means?
3)Does it mean that I am HIV negative and I had no sort of infection from my potential exposure
4) Am I 100% HIV negative?
5)Should I take any other senstive test for confirmation like pcr/rna or western blot?

I apologise for asking repetitive questions but my mind is paralysed due to anxiety I am worried and my mind cant stop thinking about it day and night.
Please help

Hi,
Welcome back to 'Ask A Doctor service'.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

I can undestand your anxiety level after potential exposure of HIV. Read the answers below that will solve your doubt.

1)CMIA is based on chemilumiscence principle amd it gives quivalent comparative result as compare to ELISA.
This test detect both antigen as well antibody.
So you are out of window period to give accurate result.

2)The test is conclusive means can surely rule out HIV and you are negative for HIV.

3)Yes you are almost 100% negative for HIV.

4)No need for any other confirmative investigation.

You have investigated with CMIA after three month of exposure, so now no need to worry. The window period is only up to maximum 4-5 week in CMIA test.
Now don't worry and be relax.

Hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.

Hi sir,
Yes you have clarified my query i just have few final questions which are making me anxious
1)I have interpreted from your advise that my test results are conclusive in ruling out HIV and I do not have HIV infection and I am HIV negative after my 15 weeks test?? Is it correct

2)Also if you can clarify that why you have stated almost 100% negative is it not sure are there any chances of error in test results and do i need to test again with some other senstive test after some time to be doubly sure of it?

3)At this point of time should i feel normal and relieved from this HIV infection stigma as my report is negative after 15 weeks and I can move ahead in life forgetting this episode as I am healthy and normal like earlier?

Thanks for your advise and support.

Brief Answer:
Follow up query. Kindly read my answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Welcome back to the 'Ask A Doctor service'.
I have reviewed your query and here is my opinion regarding your case.

Following are the answers of your asked questions.
1) Yes you are correct. After 15 week of exposure CMIA test can conclusively rule out HIV and you can be considered HIV free.

2)No need to test further. If your testing period was earlier before 12 week then I can suggest you some other test like western blot that is confirmatory test. But after 15 week CMIA is best and almost 100% effective in rule out HIV.
However I cannot rule out instrumental error in laboratory if happened.

3)Yes you can move on and enjoy life.

Hope I have answered your question.
