Brief Answer:
Do not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

I understand from your query that you are anxious about the test results.

I have gone through your history and you seem to have done all the tests for HIV 1 and 2. DNA PCR and western blot test are both extremely sensitive and specific for HIV. They cover both 1 and 2 serotypes. If they are negative, please do not worry. It surely means that you are free form the disease.

Regarding your various symptoms, it could be psychological. Since you are reading about the various symptoms of HIV, you may be going through too much stress which is being manifested in this manner.

To specifically answer your questions-

1. Yes. It detects both subtypes.

2. Seroconversion takes places within 12 weeks. It usually starts manifesting around 6-8 weeks.

3. Please upload a picture of the rash so that I can assess better.

4. Western blot and CMIA are very sensitive tests which detect even a slight increase in antibodies. So false negative is extremely rare.

5. You could meet a physician to rule out gastritis. It could be psychological also.

6. Regarding Ig G levels, you need to follow the range given by your laboratory and it is a laboratory specific test. According to your lab, it is normal. So do not worry. Moreover, IgG is not a test to indicate HIV. It can be altered in various conditions.

7. Arm pit pain is not indicative of HIV at all. Do not worry.

Hope this puts your mind at ease.

If you have any more queries, I will be glad to answer.

Regards,
Dr. Johny Chacko

hi, thanks for your reply
but DNA PCR test in SRL lab clearly shows if there is any HIV1 infection is there.
it does not detects HIV 2.
1)my question is that DNA PCR detects all the subtypes of HIV 1 or not??
2) whether Tri DOT and CMIA detects all the subtypes of HIV 1 and HIV 2
3) my result is conclusive or not, or I have to retest in 6 months, actually I saw in a website that, rarest subtypes may not be detected through test, for it I am anxious
4) I am anxious because of my acidity condition in morning which slowly erase at evening, I dont know what is caused for, I have done LFT test, HCV test and Hepatities B test by Tri dot and VDRL test also by Tridot, all is negative and LFT is normal, total albumin count 4.46 and globulin 3.1, bilirubin total count is .70
5) Please tell me a test which covers all the subtypes and groups of HIV 1 and HIV 2
forgot to mention that I have used fluticasone nasal steroid for one month during window period, did it suppress the antiodies or not ..
Thanks in advance

Brief Answer:
Covers all subtypes

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

There are mainly 2 subtypes of HIV - 1 and 2. These are detected by all the tests which you have mentioned. Generally, when a patient is sent for a HIV test, they do both 1 and 2 subtypes. However, if the laboratory has specifically mentioned only HIV 1 negative and HIV 2 has not been mentioned, then you will have to repeat again for both.

In general, they mention HIV 1 and 2.

Please upload a photograph of the lab reports so that I get a clearer picture. You have an option to upload pictures. Please utilize that.

The tests which you have done are the latest tests available covering most of the subgroups within 1 and 2 subtypes. There are newer sub groups being discovered every now and then. However, the tests which you have done are the best in covering all the subgroups.

Fluticosone nasal spray will not affect antibody formation as it acts locally.

Please revert back with the reports.

Regards,
Dr. Johny Chacko

Brief Answer:
Do not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through all your reports in detail.

PCR test has been done only for HIV 1.

However, all the other tests which are extremely sensitive and specific are all done for both HIV 1 and 2. They are all non reactive.

Liver function test is absolutely normal.

Hemogram is also normal.

Immunoglobulin levels is also normal.

There is absolutely no need for you to worry at all.

Just move on with your regular life.

If you are still worried, just get an ELISA test for HIV 1 and 2 after 3 more months.

If this is interfering with your day to day activities, please do not hesitate to meet a counsellor. Many people have this severe anxiety and multiple somatic complaints after a sexual exposure. It will really put your mind at ease if you speak to a professional counsellor.

Regarding the various symptoms you have described, I feel you could take an antacid like Ranitidine 150 mg before breakfast for about 10 days. If it does not help you, consult a physician. I do not think it is related to a liver problem as your liver function test is absolutely normal.

There is no new subtype which has been reported in XXXXXXX which is undetected by the tests you have done.

Hope this puts your mind at ease.

Wishing you good health,
Dr. Johny Chacko
