Do Children Born Through IVF Suffer Longer-term Health Issues?
Question: Hi,
My partner has low sperm count and progressive Mortality. It is looking like that we will need to do ivf/icis of have a chance of conceiving.
Is concieving a child from ivf/icis associated with longer-term health issues in the children born ?

It has been observed the risk of major congenital deformities is almost double in a child born with intracytoplasmic sperm injection/in vitro fertilization in compare to normally conceived baby.
To be specific a child with normal conception has risk of 3-5% to be diagnosed with congenital abnormalities at age of one year which is almost double for a child born with ivf/icsi.
Other than these congenital abnormalities no long term health risk associated with baby born with ivf/icfi.

TEST - MAY 14
Volume - 3 ml
Count - 18m/ml
Mortality - 68%
Morphology - 2% (kruger)
Progression - 2
Anti sperm antibodies - negative
Agglutination - negative.
TEST 2 - OCTOBER 14
Volume -2 ml
Count - 10 m/ml
Mortality - 72%
Morphology - 4% (kruger)
Progression 2-3
Anti sperm antibodies - negative
Agglutination - 10%
I am 36.5yrs of age and healthy, with a regular cycle. All results came back consistent with age.
What is the prognosis of a natural pregnacy with these result.

I have inspected the semen analysis report of two occasions in last six months and feel that the probability is very low.
I do not think there is any chance of pregnancy in natural way.
Your earlier plan to go for IVF/ICSI is required to have a baby from your husband.

Based on what you are saying, with our or someone with results similar our.
40% would in the end with a baby at the end of the ivf journey, 60% will be childless ?
Is there anything else we can do if ivf fails.

With successive attempt the chance of success is added further. About two third of couples achieve success eventually.
In case there is failure two other techniques can be thought of.
The first is Autologous endometrial coculture in which fertilized eggs are placed on top of a layer of cells from the patient's own uterine lining, rather than artificial medium to create a more natural environment for development of embryo.
The other technique is known as zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT), in which fertilized egg cells placed into the fallopian tube.
I must acknowledge that these are just other methods of in vitro fertilization or assisted reproduction.
