Do Constant Anal Pain And Constipation Indicate Hemorrhoids?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Apr 2015
Question: Hi, I'm not sure if I have hemerroids or something more serious . . . about 4 days ago I started having a constant anal pain. I am slightly constipated. I did have 2 BM's, one of which had blood and mucus, the other I'm not sure . . . both hurt, but after the fact, I did feel better. The pain has lessened slightly, but now I'm having a watery leakage problem and it's causing irritation . . . any advice?

Brief Answer:
Hemorrhoids or some inflammation can be the case.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptoms can be caused by hemorrhoids or some inflammation in the rectum.
Hemorrhoids usually give bright red blood on stool surface and on toilet paper. Pain can appear in case of blood clot inside a hemorrhoid. Itching can be also present.
Inflammation (including Ulcerative Colitis) can cause blood and mucus mixed with stool. Abdominal pain, weakness, nausea can be also present.

I suggest you to follow this steps:
- start probiotic intake and fiber intake
- wash your rectum after every stool
- have sitz baths with Oak Bark twice a day
- start OTC suppositories for hemorrhoids

If such treatment wont help in a week or so, or bleeding will get more intense, you should consult gastrologist and have sigmoidoscopy or full colonoscopy done.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
