Do Genital Warts Appear As White Marks On Penis?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Oct 2014
Question: Do genital warts appear as super small white marks on top of the penis shaft? Also if wearing a condom while having sex I know hpv can still be passed. If infected would the warts appear on the shaft or the base of the penis which was not covered by the condom? I have no other symptoms 8 weeks past exposure

Brief Answer:
Please Provide photo.

Detailed Answer:
Hello , I understand your concern. I am Dr. Arun Tank & I am infectious disease specialist. I am going to answer your concern.

- Genital warts can appear as small white marks on any part of genitalia as well as on non genital surrounding area also, I want to see the photograph of the lesion to help you further?

- Wearing condom will reduce (Not 100 %)the risk of HPV infection. Even after wearing condom if the Non genital area surrounding the region has HPV, it can transmits the HPV to partner.

-It has variable incubation period and can occur between 3 weeks to 8 month with average incubation period of 3 months.

If you have anything else to ask I will be very happy to answer that. We wish you a best health at healthcare magic.
Thank you,
Dr. Arun Tank

Brief Answer:
Image is too small to interpret

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

-The image that you have uploaded is too small to interpret. Kindly upload a picture with higher magnification and resolution. alternatively, mail it to YYYY@YYYY with subject line as 'attention to Dr. Arun'.

- Image is not very clear, but it looks like wart.

-You can upload a better image to conclude specifically.

Thank you.

I emailed another photo. Thanks. If I got genital warts from sex with a condom wouldn't the warts appear at the site that was not protected?

Brief Answer:
Highly unlikely to be genital warts.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

From the image it is highly unlikely to be wart.

- The area in question was protected under the condom and therefore was not exposed to HPV. So they are protected by HPV warts.

- While surrounding part was vulnerable to exposure by HPV. So chances of HPV wart to surrounding area is more. Since the exposed part is clear, in my opinion those are unlikely to be warts.

If you have anything else to ask I will be very happy to answer that. We wish you a best health at healthcare magic.
Thank you,
Dr. Arun Tank
