Do Pain In The Glutes And Calves Indicate Strain?

If I stop walking for a minute there is no pain. If I begin again there is some soreness.
1. Is this some kind of strain or over use, and rest or non use would cure it? or
2.. Is it a result of the aging process, and I need to do less strenuous. activity.. or
3. is it a sign of a more serious or systemic condition?
Possible muscle strain and overuse.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
From what you are describing, it seems like you have strained a muscle or inflamed a nerve (the radiated pain in the calf).
It is not part of the ageing process. It doesn't sound as something serious or systemic.
It is most probably caused by a strain and then the overuse of the strain might have made worse the pain.
It needs 3-4 weeks for the inflammation to go down.
My recommendation is that you try to rest as much as you can, do not overuse your legs (like climbing uphill, or running), stop when you have the pain and give yourself time to get better.
Take a painkiller regularly for 1 week. This will help the inflammation to go down.
Apply a local painkiller and massage the muscle, 3-4 times/day.
If worse or not better, I would recommend seeing a local doctor.

Hot pads?s
Cold is better than heat.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If you are able to find the painful spot, exactly where the muscle is strained, then it is more helpful to apply ice then heat.
But also, the local analgesics that I advised above, are helpful.
Take the oral prescription with the advice of your local doctor, who knows your overall health and knows with what you don't have contraindications.

Do you have doctors, that can write a referral i.e. to a cardiologist or other specialty when the need arises?
Not official referrals.

But our referrals are not official. If only the printed answer of our expert's counts, then you can just print the answer here and show to your doctors.
