Question : I am 48, non-smoker, exerciser, good health. I had 1 uterine polyp removed july 2013--benign through myosure resection. I had 1 spot between my periods in Nov. and my GYN wants to do a transvag ultrasound. Is he just being cautious? (He hasn't physically examined me since my last annual in January 2014.) I panic easily and though the last surgery was fine, I am very scared. I am thinking the spot might be regular perimenopause and unbelievable physical stress my 2nd blue collar job is putting on me.

The mild spotting can be due to stress and hormonal changes but it is best to rule out any uterine or cervical pathology too. Do get the ultrasound done as advised and get your annual PAP smear done for the peace of mind.
